Masterpiece & Stop Motion Stations
Joslyn Art Museum
Joslyn Art Museum built a creative play space, ART WORKS, filled with activities inspired by the museum’s permanent collection. Nanonation contributed two experiences allowing visitors to create realistic digital artwork that can be saved and shared via email.
Inspired by Jackson Pollock paintings, the Masterpiece painting stations needed to simulate the gloppy, messy way real paint blends. Our life-size canvas behaves so naturally that the digital aspect melts away. Artists can “pour” paint from a bucket and use brushes, squeegees, or even their hands to create their very own masterpiece. The Stop Motion stations had a different challenge—how to take a meticulous process and make it accessible to visitors in under 2 minutes. Through a simple interface, we designed special effects and video mode features that demystify the art of stop motion movie-making.
