Cousins Subs Moves 340 Menu Board Players to One Provider in 9 Days, Without a Single Site Visit
A full menu redesign, PAR POS integration, and 340 menu board players migrated without sending a technician to a single store. That’s what Nanonation delivered for Cousins Subs in 10 weeks.
Why Cousins Subs made the switch
Cousins Subs’ previous digital menu boards depended on multiple vendors. Hardware, software, and the POS integration that connected prices to the screens didn’t all come from one place. That added cost, and it meant more coordination whenever something needed to change or stopped working.
Cousins Subs wanted a simpler, more cost-effective setup, with one partner accountable for the whole thing and support that gets screens back online fast. In a quick-service restaurant, a dark menu board slows the line and costs sales.
Nanonation brings everything under one roof: menu design, software, POS integration, deployment, and support. It’s a more streamlined experience, and it costs less than the solution it replaced. Because CommandPoint runs on a wide range of hardware, Cousins Subs kept its existing players and didn’t have to buy anything new to make the switch. As those units reach end of life, they can replace them with more cost-effective hardware instead of being locked into one expensive option.
A new menu in 30 days
In mid-February, Nanonation led a full menu design consultation. Within 30 days, we delivered an enterprise menu board built to Cousins Subs’ design standards and limited time offer (LTO) requirements.
The menu runs on CommandPoint, Nanonation’s content management system, configured to match Cousins Subs’ own naming conventions so their team works in terms it already knows.
Tested, certified, and migrated remotely
After building the menu and configuring it for every location, our team tested the deployment and update process on each hardware model already in the field. Every model was certified before launch.
The player migration took just 9 days and was completed entirely remotely. By the end of April, all 340 players were live, driving the digital menu boards in every Cousins Subs location, [all ~95 stores], with each board showing pricing specific to its store.
What the new menu can do
- Store-level pricing from the POS. Prices come straight from PAR, so every board shows that location’s own pricing and always matches what’s rung up at the register. Nobody has to build or maintain a separate menu for each store.
- Real-time out-of-stock labeling. When an item runs out, the board labels it automatically. Guests don’t order something the kitchen can’t make.
- Location-tagged layouts. Each store is tagged in CommandPoint, so layouts and content go to exactly the locations they’re meant for. One update reaches every store it applies to.
- Self-serve menu and PLU updates. The Cousins Subs team can add items, change menu details, and update PLUs directly in CommandPoint, without submitting a support ticket.
- Configurable LTOs, images, and video. Promotions launch on Cousins Subs’ schedule, and creative can be swapped whenever a campaign changes.
What Cousins Subs has now
Everything they were looking for when they made the switch. One partner for the entire solution, at a lower cost than what they had before. No new hardware costs to get started, and a clear path to more affordable players down the road.
And support they can count on. Nanonation’s support team works in-house from our office, answers the phone every time, and is available 24/7/365. We monitor every screen proactively, so issues are often caught and fixed before a store notices.
Cousins Subs now manages its menus in-house, with the control it needs and a team behind it that keeps every board online.
