The Magic House, St. Louis Children’s Museum, was seeking to elevate user experience at the new Kenya’s Kids exhibit. The museum offers hands-on and interactive based learning for children, designed to inspire a love of learning.
Kenya’s Kids is the first of several cultural exhibits in the World Traveler Gallery. The objective is to allow visitors to discover what life is like for children across the globe.
The Masai Mara National Reserve within the exhibit will feature four sculptures made by artisans in Nairobi. Nanonation designed an innovative solution to enhance children’s learning experience by utilizing Augmented Reality with 3-Dimensional rendering to bring these animals to life.
Using Microsoft Surfaces, visitors will snap photos of the elephant, giraffe, monkey, and a lioness with her cubs, as if they were on a safari in Kenya’s savanna. After taking the picture, the AR element is triggered to display a 3-Dimensional rendered image of the animal in its habitat. Information about their species and lifecycle will also appear, allowing the user to swipe through various facts.
This Augmented Reality experience will help The Magic House achieve its goal of sparking kid’s imagination and instilling a lifelong love of learning.
